Auditory Processing Disorder affects how the brain processes what the ears hear, often occurring in individuals with normal hearing sensitivity. We evaluate children as young as 3.5 years old through 60 years old, recognizing that auditory processing challenges can affect individuals differently across their lifespan.

Our APD Testing Approach

Our testing approach goes beyond standard protocols by incorporating your specific case history and daily listening challenges to create a customized evaluation that addresses your unique concerns. We begin with a detailed discussion about your specific listening challenges, academic or work difficulties, and daily situations where hearing becomes problematic to guide our test selection and interpretation. APD testing requires a full hearing evaluation to be completed within the past six months to rule out peripheral hearing loss before proceeding with testing.

Using expertise in the Central Auditory Test Battery, Feather Squadron, ACPT, Dichotic Testing, and other specialized protocols, we select tests that best address your reported challenges and suspected processing difficulties. Your evaluation may assess:

• Decoding Abilities - How quickly and accurately you process speech sounds and phonemes
• Tolerance-Fading Memory - Your ability to understand speech in background noise and process auditory information in short-term memory
• Organization Skills - How well you maintain proper sequence of auditory information
• Binaural Integration - How well both sides of the brain work together to combine and understand different sounds presented to each ear

We analyze results, including a detailed phonemic analysis of each sound error, within the context of your daily experiences to provide clear explanations of findings and specific recommendations for treatment and accommodations that will support your success in educational or work settings.
